Bite-Sized Balance Podcast with Wendy McCallum

Jan 26, 2021

Women need connection — even more so during these challenging times. Connection is not only critical to our happiness and life satisfaction, it is also key to mental wellness, longevity, brain health, stress management, freedom from alcohol, and burnout prevention. In this episode, Wendy and guest April MacKinnon share their personal stories and experience with connection and building community, discuss why it can be hard to make new connections as we age, and explore creative ways to nurture our own sense of community.

April MacKinnon is the owner of Anointment Natural Skin Care, a skin care company dedicated to supporting women in life transitions: pregnancy, postpartum and menopause. April has always been interested in the link between wellness and nature. Trained as a civil engineer, her professional career involved providing clean drinking water in many small Atlantic Canada communities.

A life-changing experience with the birth and subsequent illness of her daughter led to April leaving her career and forging a path focused on natural living.

Confronted with a lack of community as a new mother, April builds community through business opportunities, most recently as the host of Ripple Effect, a podcast dedicated to sharing stories of pivotal change in women's lives and information relating to health and wellness.

Based in Sackville, NB, April is a runner, yogi, member of the Wallace McCain Institute's Entrepreneurship Leadership Program and shares her life with her husband, three children, and many pets.
